Our Governors and Governance
The Governance of the RNN Group is really important to our mission and the contribution we make.
Our Board includes members with work and professional interests in business, the public, educational, community and third sectors. Our governors have a strong and diverse skillset covering the fields of educational quality, teaching, financial, human resources, marketing and others. Collectively they oversee and direct the overall performance and direction of the Group.
We have both student and staff governors, who will contribute the views of these important groups to the Board.
It is with deep sadness that our fellow governor and Chair Jenny Worsdale has passed away. Jenny had dedicated 30 years to post 16 education and improving the lives of young people.ย She was passionate about the importance of FE in bringing opportunities, joy and aspiration to everyone, especially the disadvantaged and had spent her whole career working in deprived areas; in her words she had never worked anywhere leafy.ย
She understood the barriers by many learners, socio-economic factors, low aspirations and lack of engagement with pre-16 education and recognised the opportunities available locally and regionally for people to be supported to overcome barriers and grow in confidence. After four years of being a dedicated and valuable governor on the Board, earlier this year Jenny demonstrated through a rigorous appointment process that she was the right person to Chair the Board going forward and she was delighted to take up the role.ย
Her leadership style was inclusive and collaborative and she highly valued the views and ideas of the Board, the Executive and the Senior Leadership Team.ย Her passionate support, challenge and attention to detail has supported the significant improvements in the quality of education and apprenticeship provision across the Group.ย She worked hard on the planning of the Boardโs October Strategy Day to start the journey to a new strategic plan for our students, staff and communities. In her interview she talked passionately about education and how it is pivotal in transforming lives telling the panel Education is the most powerful thing out there; it opens up the world.ย
