Grand Opening: £4 Million Facilities Officially Unveiled

On the 27th March, Rotherham College, part of the RNN Group, proudly unveiled its brand-new, state-of-the-art construction and digital facilities, marking a significant milestone in the College’s commitment to providing industry-leading education and training.

This exciting development follows a £4 million investment made in August 2023, aimed at enhancing the learning experience for students pursuing careers in the construction and digital industry.

The launch event saw over 40 attendees, including esteemed guests such as Sarah Champion MP, representatives from RNN Group, Henry Boot, Banner Plant, Esh, Stem Architects, and many more key industry partners.

Their presence highlighted the strong relationships between the College and the construction sector, reinforcing the centre’s role in bridging the skills gap and preparing students for real-world opportunities.

Guests were warmly welcomed into the Wentworth building upon arrival, where they were offered drinks and canapés, creating an ideal environment for networking and collaboration.

The event then progressed with a presentation led by Jason Austin, CEO of RNN Group, who emphasised the transformative impact the new facilities will have on students, staff, and the wider community. He spoke passionately about how these advanced learning spaces will equip students with the knowledge and practical experience needed to excel in construction and digital careers.

The highlight of the event came as Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Mac McPherson MBE DL, officially cut the ribbon, symbolising the grand opening of the new facilities.

This moment marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Rotherham College and its students, who will now benefit from cutting-edge workshops, modern equipment, and enhanced teaching spaces designed to support the next generation of skilled professionals.

Following the ribbon cutting, guests were taken on a tour of the new facilities including joinery, brickwork and the new digital suites, where they had the opportunity to witness the impressive learning spaces firsthand. They also participated in engaging taster sessions alongside learners from Rotherham College, gaining insight into the hands-on training and expertise being developed within the centre.

These new facilities will provide students with the skills, experience, and opportunities needed to succeed in the construction industry. With modern facilities and strong industry partnerships, Rotherham College is committed to helping learners build a bright future.
