Free Training Programme Opens Doors to Renewable Energy Careers

RNN Group, in partnership with Matrix Academy and Bassetlaw District Council, has launched the Green Skills Programme, offering free renewable technology training. Following the successful completion of 31 apprentices last month, students from other areas can now enrol.

Funded by UKSPF, the Green Skills Programme training initiative is available to Bassetlaw residents and employees. A total of 100 spaces are available, primarily aimed at apprentices, unemployed individuals, skilled and unskilled workers, as well as those in sales or office roles, By providing these opportunities, the programme aims to build a skilled workforce that meets the growing demand for green energy professionals.

Taking part in this course gives individuals a competitive edge, helping them acquire practical knowledge in a world focused on reducing emissions and increasing energy efficiency. Participants will explore key areas in renewable energy and energy efficiency, covering the basics of heat pump installation, energy efficiency types and processes, and the role of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Strategies for improving energy efficiency will also be covered during the course, helping participants reduce both consumption and costs. One key approach is through solar energy technologies, including solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal systems. With a practical approach, students will be equipped to drive the shift towards a sustainable energy future, mastering how these technologies can reduce household energy consumption.

After attending, students can expect to develop a solid foundation in renewable energy technologies and efficiency practices. Learning these new skills will enable them to contribute to sustainability and take advantage of new career opportunities in a growing sector. As businesses continue to adopt sustainable practices to combat climate change, the demand for green skills is rising year on year.

Ashley Crooks, Bidding and Contracts Manager at RNN Group, highlighted the significance of the programme:

This programme isnโ€™t just for those that currently work in the industry or those that are looking to get in to the industry. It also benefits those that have a general interest in the industry and those that are looking to make their homes or work places more energy efficient.
