Higher Technical Qualification in Health at the RNN Group

Learners who have started the Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) in Health Care this term have fed back on their first few weeks on the course really positively.

The Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) in Health and Social Care is specifically designed to prepare learners for entry into the health and social care sector, equipping them with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for success in careers and higher academic opportunities.

Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) have been developed in partnership with employers and are delivered by industry experts and focus on the skills, knowledge and behaviours that are in-demand by employers.

They can also act as a stepping stone to further study, such as an apprenticeship or undergraduate degree.

One learner said, โ€œI am really enjoying the practical element of the course, I feel it is setting me up for my future career in healthcare.โ€

Another added, โ€œThe course is giving me a vital insight into working within healthcare due to the practicalโ€™s and realistic healthcare learning environment.โ€

The HTQ is designed to meet the current sector skills shortages and enhance employment opportunities into band 3 roles as associate practitioners across various health and social care settings.

The course is ideal for adult learners wishing to pursue careers in nursing and social care or for existing health and social care workers seeking to upskill and advance future career opportunities

“This course is enhancing both my clinical and theoretical knowledge of healthcare, this has been a really useful insight into the healthcare industry,โ€ a learner said to the course tutor who added, โ€œI feel really comfortable working on clinical practicalโ€™s in small groups and feel well supported by my tutor.”

Students studying the HTQ with us will enable them to enjoy learning in state of the art facilities across the RNN Group.

They will enjoy theoretical learning through a hybrid model of online and face to face sessions, one day a week at our flagship higher education centre University Centre Rotherham and also develop clinical practice skills one day per week in the brand new purpose-built health suite at our Dearne Valley Campus.
