New Construction Centre at Rotherham College

Over the last year, part of the Clifton Building, one of the three buildings within Rotherham College, has been undergoing a transformation following an investment of ยฃ4 million.

This injection of capital has allowed us to develop two floors devoted to a brand new Construction Centre and digital suite.

This has given us the opportunity to bring our construction students up from our Rawmarsh Road centre and facilitate the teaching of all of our Rotherham College students on one site, as well as bringing engineering, construction (plumbing, electrical, brick, joinery and carpentry) together so that all students can benefit from the wider facilities within the College as part of their immediate surrounding.ย

The Construction Centre houses a level for carpentry and joinery as well as a floor for brick work. Each floor houses both practical spaces and classrooms for theoretical study. There are spaces for students to ensure they can change into the correct uniform required for a construction site as well as showers and toilets.

Furthermore, and perhaps the most exciting and innovative part of the build, is a brand new lift to transport building materials up to the relevant floors which is attached to the practical spaces.ย

Along from brickwork is our new digital suite which houses state of the art equipment for our computing and digital students. There is a virtual reality suite, gaming room and cyber security area, with first rate equipment that does not look out of place from a James Bond set!

These new facilities are great timing as we launch our Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) this year centring on Construction and Digital courses at Rotherham College.

For more information on HTQs, watch our recent HTQ webinar here.ย

Students are starting to use these facilities this week which is really exciting for our learners and staff, they will be working with staff to develop the facilities this week allowing them to really engage with their area.

This is really exciting news for the local community and business; our focus on skills and the needs of our region are key for the RNN Group as we develop the future workforce in these key areas of growth.

We will be having a launch event for this exciting new space in early 2025 to showcase it to our community and business partners.ย
